Nick CucinelliTitle: Mentor-in-Residence
Nick is a “hardtech” entrepreneur and expert in university tech transfer with over 20 years of experience commercializing transformative technologies rooted in the physical sciences. He has raised over $15M in SBIR/STTR grants and early-stage investment for cleantech, advanced manufacturing, defense, and nanotech ventures and served as an investor or advisor to over 40 startup companies. In addition to his role as a statewide Mentor-in-Residence for the Tech Transfer Talent Network, he is currently the CEO of Endectra, a University of Michigan spinout developing a photonic sensor platform for defense and medical applications. Prior engagements include Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Detroit Innovate venture fund, CEO of U-M spinout CSquared Innovations, business development manager for a British fuel cell company, and CEO of a publicly-traded energy tech incubator.
Nick holds a BS (High Honors) in Marine & Environmental Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, an MBA and MS in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Michigan, and a 200-ton USCG captain’s license.
