To better serve our faculty and business clients, U-M Tech Transfer received funding to augment our staff with 3 new positions. We have recruited some exciting new talent to these and three other positions and we are pleased to introduce you to the newest members of our licensing team.
Janani Ramaswamy just joined us from the Henry Ford Health System where she was a Licensing Associate and managed a portfolio of medical devices, biotechnology and digital healthcare inventions. Janani has a PhD in biomedical engineering from U-M and a B.S. in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology in India. Janani also worked as a Tech Transfer Fellow in our office in 2013-2014. Janani is one of our new Licensing Specialists with a focus in medical devices and other technologies.
Dick Greeley is joining us as a Senior Licensing Specialist with a focus on engineering technologies. Dick has over 30 years of experience in high technology, formerly serving as a Director of Licensing for Microsoft, a Director of Technology Business Development and a Director of Strategic Planning and Investing at Hewlett-Packard (Compaq/DEC) and most recently was co-founder and COO of a med device startup in Houston. Dick has an MBA from Boston University, a B.S. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Tufts University, and is finishing a Masters in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State.
Stefan Koehler is a new Senior Licensing Specialist for the Life Sciences. Stefan joins us from the University of Wisconsin where he taught in the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship. Previously Stefan worked for Epicentre Technologies in Madison, acquired by Illumina in 2011, as their Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing Manager. Earlier he worked for KPMG providing financial consulting to large accounts and startups in biotechnology, healthcare and medical technology. Stefan has an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, a MS in Biology and Molecular Genetics and a BS in Biology/Microbiology from the University of Munich.
Anne Juggernauth is a new Licensing and Market Specialist, replacing Mutsumi Yoshida who was promoted to a Senior Licensing position. Anne works with our team of Licensing Specialists providing market analysis and marketing support for our portfolio of U-M technologies. Anne also manages our Tech Transfer Fellows program, supervising a team of graduate students providing marketing support for new inventions, and assists with both incoming and outgoing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs). Anne worked previously at Avery Dennison providing patent landscaping and technology assessment, and also as a Senior Analyst at Boston-based Global Prior Art. Anne has a PhD in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from U-M and a B.S in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Tech.
Hui Chen is joining us after 4 years at Cornell’s Center for Technology Licensing where she managed and marketed technologies and materials from the Weill Cornell Medical College. Hui previously worked at Cornell University and the Salk Institute as a research associate. Hui will be helping us with licensing, material transfer agreements, and technology marketing. Hui received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her B.S. in Biochemistry from Fudan University.
John Corthell is a new Technology Licensing Associate responsible for Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs). Prior to joining U-M Tech Transfer, John helped manage teaching laboratories for the U-M LSA Chemistry department, was a professional editor, and was a post-doctoral fellow in the U-M Department of Pharmacology. John has also served as the president of the miLEAD Consulting Group, a nonprofit management consulting firm that specializes in supporting life science startups. John received his B.S. in Biological Science and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Florida State University.
